in manatee county: a substitute teacher is off the job.. after he was charged with molesting three girls. detectives say "brad bellingar" knew the girls outside of school.. and he's been abusing them for ?years. the manatee school district says bellingar worked as a substitute teacher 20-11. the district released a statement to the bradenton herald.. saying bellingar was immediately removed from his position wednesday..after they learned of his arrest. and st. pete police will be out today... for a new operation, focused on pedestrian safety. over the next few weeks, officers will be at ten different ?high risk areas giving out warnings and education materials to drivers, bicyclists, and pedestrians. and starting next ?month, officers will start ?ticketing people in
today's effort starts at ten a-m at the corner of 3rd avenue south and 3rd stret south. a local display of american history - could soon be ?history in another way. the armed forces history museum in largo is now planning to shut down... for good. . the museum has been dealing with six hundred thousand dollars in ?debt... every year. it's founder - john piazza - was fronting the cash to keep it afloat, but he passed away last month. the museum's director says donor to come forward - or else the doors will close for good at the end of january. the location of the museum is blamed for it's failure. it's off the beaten path in an industrial park. and another big question remains - what happens to the rare items inside? they're now asking other museums... like the smithsonian... if they'd be willing to take them. severe weather continued to impact the southeast overnight, including the panhandle. these are images from okaloosa county where storms brought down
people inside were not injured. a possible funnel cloud was spotted in destin... and there was a torando warning issued for the area for about 30 minutes. and speaking of storms... finally a day to ?celebrate. hurricane season is ?officially over. november 30th was the official last day of the atlantic season. and i think we can all agree... ?good riddance! this was the ?busiest atlantic hurricane season since 20-10. total of 15 named tropical storms formed during 2016, ?seven of which turned into hurricanes. and five named storms ?hit the u-s. of course the most devastating was "hurricane matthew." it left hundreds dead in haiti... before ripping up the east coast of florida. but matthew wasn't technically a ?major hurricane...when it made landfall... .that's a category three or above. which means the u-s has now gone 11 ?years without a major hurricane making landfall in the u-s. the ?longest

while paving a nearby street. crews worked for hours...carefully cutting away at pipes and removing dirt to pull the manatee out. it was taken to seaworld to get evaluated. thankfully it only has a few cuts and scrapes. this morning in palm harbor... florida fish and wildlife will send a "manatee rescue team" to lake tarpon. it comes after three or four manatees were spotted ?trapped in the lake. the manatees got there by swimming through a water-control structure connected to the gulf during tropical storm even though the lake has plenty of vegetation... wildlife officials are concerned that the water might get too cold. the team will try to find the sea cows and relocate them to the gulf. and this isn't the first time manatees have been ?stuck in a waterway. it also happened at a golf course in crystal river, back in september. six manatees got trapped in a pond after a storm surge from hurricane hermine carried them there. that group was ?also relocated to warmer waters. but some actually tried swimming ?back... to get to
a new twist on a holiday treat... debuts today in clearwater. the "seadog brewery" is releasing its new seasonal beer..
